Prescribed Interest Rates for Leasing Rules

Notes

• The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) has established prescribed interest rates, under

Regulation 4302, to determine and limit both the amount of capital cost allowance that

a lessor may claim in respect of “specified leasing property” and the interest portion of

payments by a lessee. The rate for these purposes, in any month, is one percentage point

greater than the long-term Government of Canada bond rate for the last Wednesday of the

month before the preceding month.

• This information is available on the CRA’s web site at www.cra-arc.gc.ca.
