Greetings to our 10

th

 anniversary delegates!

We would like to extend a warm welcome to all delegates at KPMG’s 10th annual
Mining Executive Forum! When we began this event a decade ago, we never
imagined it would develop into the industry favourite it has become. To celebrate
our 10

th

anniversary, we have moved the Forum to the centre of U.S. mining, Denver,

Colorado, and we eagerly await the experience we will have in this great city.

A lot of water has passed under the industry bridge since last year’s Forum in
Toronto, which came at a tough time for all companies but especially the golds
and juniors. Since then, however, mining equity indices and commodity prices
have been showing some stability. Global M&A activity is beginning to reawaken as
companies start looking to future opportunities. China and other emerging countries
are gradually regaining their potential as major markets and industry players.

We never really know the mood of any particular Forum until it unfolds, but
we do see some room for bridled optimism at this year’s event. You will be in
the company of bright and resourceful peers from a wide cross section of the
industry, including greater representation from U.S. mining companies than you
have yet seen at one of our Annual Forums. Our topics are on point, and our
speakers are prepared to deliver the candid inside-the-industry messages that
are the hallmark of our event. We invite you to relax, enjoy, and learn.
